🤔 The Only Constant
Changes in Price: 1990s vs Today
Our five senses offer a base layer of evaluation. Another layer of knowing is money. Today's pickup truck will have vastly more comforts than one off-the-lot 30 years ago. How about a Big Mac? Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. Additive or reductive?
As we think about the passing of time, the nominal price of things act as a reference.
Consider the changes in these values over 30 years.
Average home sale price: $144,000 to $545,000
Ford F-150 Standard Cab: $13,400 to $31,500
Airline tickets for a domestic round-trip: $288 to $335
Big Mac Cheeseburger, USA: $2.20 to $4.43
👀 March Madness
Sweet, Elite, and Final Four
Predicting the winner of the NCAA basketball tournament is a challenging bet. We know that the short-term is uncertain—composition and competition changes. Brackets can bust.
Taking a longer view, we can be reasonably sure that the NCAA will host another tournament next year. Fans will continue to cheer on their teams and participate in bracket pools. That's a bet most of us would take: 2024 March Madness! After all, the games were canceled only once since 1939.
▶️ Buying a Second Home
Discussion with Tom Fee
A second home for some is an important part of getting today right. In this video, Jason and Tom discuss several points to consider, including:
How much time do you have to spend in a second location?
How will the property accentuate your time together if family and friends are involved?
How long would you own a second home? Five years, 25 years, or multi-generational.
